BOXES

My husband has often said that there is not a box I do not love. I have a collection of them from all over the world. Several years ago he received some Apple products in a very sturdy white box—I asked him to save it for me. This was my first paper collaged box. Over the last few years I have made others from various paper scraps, including my own painted paper. I also started making fabric boxes by hand for entertainment on long road trips.

FABRIC BOXES

Cardboard sections covered in fabric; all hand sewn. I have often used fabric that I have saved from my earlier fabric art days.

The first fabric box I made was from a re-purposed Pooh tie that my younger sister sent to me —to make into a memorial item for a good friend who had died. His wife gave her the tie.

The next set of boxes I made while traveling to Ola, Idaho for the 2017 Solar Eclipse. After the eclipse we headed for the Grand Tetons. Lots of road miles to spend stitching.

Then, in hopes of getting rid of all the saved fabric and repurposing sheets of cardboard, the boxes just keep coming. Making them is great stress relief while binge watching political news.
